TEACHING Philosophy
Our teaching style and philosophy align closely with the both the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approach. We support child-directed learning through nature, music, art and hands-on experiences. Our program includes both structured activities and free play. Engaging concepts are presented during a relaxed lesson time and reinforced through play and every day activities.
We understand that learning starts at birth. We embrace this fact by including all of the children–babies and “big kids” alike–in classes and activities. Our small group size offers lots of individual attention. Each child is exposed to age appropriate toys, books and activities.
We spend as much time as possible enjoying the great outdoors. Whether it’s playing on our playground, taking a walk, exploring in the woods, enjoying picnics in the summer and sledding in the winter; if the sun is out we are too! We periodically take fun, educational field trips to museums, farms and more. We also enjoy frequent visits to the library.
The Playroom
We spend our days in our bright, clean 500 square foot playroom. The playroom includes its own private entrance, bathroom, child-size table and chairs, chalk board wall and-of course-plenty of age appropriate toys and books for everyone!

The Playground
Our playroom opens up to a safe, fenced in play yard that we enjoy year round! It is home to our outdoor mud kitchen, swing set, playhouse and the organic vegetable garden and strawberry patch that we tend ourselves.
MusicAL Mondays
Every Monday morning our playroom is transformed into a music room when our music teacher, Miss Katey arrives. Miss Katey uses songs, games and a variety of interactive activities to teach basic music theory. The children learn about notes, beats, rhythm and much, much more! Everyone takes part.
There is no extra charge for this fun, engaging and educational class. After class, Miss Katey also offers private piano lessons. Parents are free to take advantage of our excellent discounted rate for private piano lessons.
